Mahua Moitra Controversy: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien while talking about ‘cash-for-query’ accusations against the party leader Mahua Moitra said that let the matter be investigated by the suitable forum of Parliament.
He further added that Moitra has been asked by the party to clarify her stand regarding the accusations levelled against her. He said, “We have observed reports in the media. The member concerned has been advised by the party leadership to clarify her position regarding the allegations levelled against her. She has already done that. However, since the matter has to do with an elected MP, let the matter be investigated by the right forum of Parliament- after which the party leadership will take an appropriate decision.”
It is pertinent to mention here that last week, on October 15, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had alleged that the TMC chief was asking questions in parliament in lieu of the cash and gifts from a businessman. These allegations were actually levelled by Jai Anant Dehadrai, who Mahua Moitra called the “jilted ex”.
It sparked a political storm and the Speaker of the house, Mr. Om Birla was urged to set up an inquiry committee to look into the matter, and the matter has now been referred to the Ethics Committee of the Parliament.
Mahua Moitra has refuted the allegations and has blamed a “Fake Degree MP” and her “jilted ex” for the controversy. She has moved to the Delhi High Court to prevent Dubey, Dehadrai and media outlets from publishing any fake news about her.
While commenting about her “impending CBI raid”, she tweeted, “I am busy with Durga Puja. I invite CBI to come home & count my pairs of shoes. But first please file FiR into ₹13,000 crore coal money Adani stole from Indians”.
Adding further fuel to the fire, Nishikant Dubey said that he had enough of CBI-CBI and that he has moved to Lokpal. He said that he was tired of hearing CBI-CBI and that he has approached the Lokpal to probe into the corruption of MPs and Ministers.
