There is a big news for central government employees. Central government has approved 4% DA hike for them and with this decision, the DA for central government employees will enhance to 46%. This important decision is going to benefit more than ten million employees and pensioners.
The central government has approved 4% hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) in favor of central government employees. This hike shall take effect from first of July, 2023. This important decision is going to benefit mote than 48 Lakh central government employees and around 68 Lakh pensioners.
It is pertinent to mention here that central government enhances the DA in favour of central government employees two times a year. One is approved with effect from 1, January and another from 1, July each year.
These enhancements are done in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th central pay commission. The rates are revised on the basis of latest Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) brought out by the Labor Bureau every month.
The last revision in DA was done on 24, March 2023, and With this 4%, the new DA rates shall now be 46% of the basic pay.
In addition to this DA hike, central government has also approved Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for railway employees, which is equivalent to 78 days of their pay.
This news has brought a smile on the faces of millions of central government employees and pensioners. It will now help the states in deciding the DA hike rate in favor of their own employees.
